Sleigh No More, It's Stout Season! Tue, Dec 05, 23 | beer blog by Josh Liddy There is nothing better than a nice, robust stout beer on a cold winter's night. The style evolved from the London porter of the 1700s. Stouts became quite popular with citizens in the Balkans and Russia, where it tends to be colder for longer during the year. With temperatures dropping here at home, here are some stout selections to keep you warm! Komes Russian Imperial Stout 16.9 oz. bottle Coming from Poland, Komes makes some great beers. Sitting at 12% ABV, this one is strong but the alcohol is not too overpowering. On the nose you get a bit of that alcohol, along with roasted malt, and some dark fruit, all of which follow through on the palate. This comes as a single bottle, so you can try it without committing to four or six. Founder's Breakfast Stout 4 pack bottles This is a classic! The label says "double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout". What a mouthful! A delicious mouthful at that. This stout has a ton of coffee and chocolate. The oats give this a velvety mouthfeel that makes it super easy to drink. What's better than coffee when it's cold? 903 Sasquatch Imperial Stout 4 pack cans 903 is relatively new to Arkansas, and has some outstanding stout offerings. Sasquatch is one of those. They brew this one with a healthy dose of cocoa nibs for a nice chocolate nose and finish. Sasquatch is a little hefty, coming in at 10.7% ABV, and it’s sure to keep you warm. Prairie BOMB! 4 pack bottles Prairie is another brewery that has mastered the art of stout beers. BOMB! is their flagship stout that we keep on the shelf all year. With coffee, cocoa, vanilla and chili peppers, this one is very interesting. You get a ton of coffee and chocolate up front, followed by the vanilla, that ends with some slight heat from the chili peppers. I love BOMB!, and I highly suggest you come by and browse our other stout offerings from Prairie. Independence Convict Hill Oatmeal Stout 6 pack cans Like the Founder's, this oatmeal stout is velvety. There is a ton of roasted malt and chocolate on the nose. You get some malty sweetness on the palate, complemented by the chocolate. This one has the lowest punch of the bunch, weighing in at 8% ABV. As winter approaches, stouts become more and more popular. With the holidays upon us, you could use one of these beers to make a dessert for any of your holiday parties. Stay warm this winter and come grab one of these! Happy holidays! By Josh Liddy Tags: stout beer
