A Can of Beer for Your Summer Cheer Tue, Apr 23, 24 | beer blog We’ve figured out a way to beat that relentless Arkansas summer heat: run (and jump) into the nearest body of water! Whether it’s one of Arkansas' 2340 lakes or your pool, you can't go empty handed. Nothing goes better together than a refreshing dip in the water and an ice-cold beer. I think we consider that a summer tradition that needs no breaking! All of these offerings listed are in cans too, so no need to worry about glass bottles. These are my go-tos when I'm going to be on the water. Independence Brewing Redbud Berliner Weisse – 6 pack Berliner Weisse, a traditional German tart wheat ale, is typically light with a citrusy tartness. Independence Brewing from Austin, TX makes a great true-to-style Berliner. This is tart and absolutely refreshing for a day on the water! Bentonville Brewing Soul Shine Kolsh – 6 pack Bentonville Brewing is relatively new to Colonial, and their lineup has been a hit since their arrival. Soul Shine Kolsch is a traditional German style of beer that isn't exactly a lager and isn't exactly an ale. Soul Shine is easy drinking and crisp. It has a note of lemon on the palate that makes it perfect for a summer day. Bell's Light Hearted Lo-Cal IPA – 6 pack If you’re watching the calories and want that bathing suit to fit all summer, Bell's Light Hearted is your answer! It's only 110 calories, yet still a full-flavored IPA. It has a very nice, pronounced hop profile for a "light" beer. At only 3.7% abv, this is an easy-going day drinker for sure. Ozark Lager – 6 pack A delicious alternative to the other beers I’ve listed here, I think Ozark has the best lager in the state. This one is a true eye opener for your friends who "don't like craft beer". Crisp, refreshing and drinkable, this is a staple in my beer fridge during the heat of the summer. No matter your choice of water fun—lounging by the pool, headed to the lake, or taking a trip to the beach—beer is a must! These four offerings have to be in your ice chest this summer. A good beer, good friends, and a body of water are sure fire ways to beat that Arkansas summer heat. By Josh Liddy
